Target Minerals: Gold & Silver
Introduction
GoldQuest has discovered two new zones of gold-bearing quartz veins and in the northern Dominican Republic. These were discovered during the Gold Fields-funded exploration programme.
Ownership
The projects are 100% owned by GoldQuest and are excluded from the Gold Fields option agreement.
Location & Access
The El Toro and Santa Ana projects are located approximately 110 km north-west of the capital Santo Domingo. Access is very good with several roads enabling access to the project.
Geology and Sampling
El Toro comprises multiple mesothermal quartz veins defined over approximately 2.6 kilometres strike length with a northwest trend. The zone is approximately 1,000 meters wide and comprises several individual veins of up to 2.0 metres width, hosted in andesitic tuffs. Sampling of this zone returned 72 out of 182 rock grab and float samples (40%) with values greater than 1 g/t gold with a maximum value of 35.19 g/t gold. Fourteen samples returned values in excess of 10 g/t gold. A soil grid returned 31 out of 415 samples (7.5%) with >0.1 g/t Au with a maximum of 0.84 g/t. At Santo Ana several zones of quartz veins have been identified similar to that seen at El Toro with grab samples of quartz vein returning values up to 10.25 g/t Au.
Future Work Programmes
The property has now been geologically mapped and sampled in detail in preparation for trenching.
